The Trip Advisor Wikipedia link to parliament gardens is incorrect. The Botanic Gardens are very worthwhile, not very accessible if you have physical limitations. ( there are stairs and hilly, rocky paths). Many very interesting plants, excellent descriptions, lots of birds, lizards, small mammals. There are also lovely viewpoints of the hilly city suburbs. Yes, it's dry. I walked there... More

First person to sign in today and I thoroughly enjoyed my walk through the Botanical Gardens. Had a hard time getting a decent photo of the quiver trees without houses or cars in the background as the forest is adjacent to the boundary fence but lovely to see them and other unusual plants. A lovely place to visit and the... More

A true national treasure that appears to be under-utilized. It's free and has many places to go to see the local plants, trees, and some of the birds. Charming trails and well-marked specimens, this is a good place to spend several hours. A shorter trip is still worthwhile. Walkable from downtown but bring a map!

Contrary to the Trip Advisor link to Parliament Gardens Wikipedia link, this is an entirely different place, showcasing the varied flora from all over Namibia. The description and explanations in English satisfy without overloading. Additionally, there are some scenic (keep in mind, this is Windhoek) overlooks and a variety of birds and animals. Outside of the traditional architecture in the... More

A lovely place to walk and see not only the plant life of Namibia but also some of its birds, insects and reptiles. Beautifully peaceful network of paths - could be better signposted though. Some of the plants were a little dry and dead unfortunately. Would be great if it opened even earlier - I arrived at 8am (the earliest)... More

The monthly guided walk through the garden with the Botanical Society is awesome! If you go often, you see the changes in each plant over the seasons. Magical. Plus, if you ask, they show you some of the edible plants, so if you ever get stuck in the bush ;)

It is free to visit but no help from the staff. We made our way along the foot paths to the bottle trees and also to the quiver trees. Everywhere there were dead aloes. We could not find someone to ask. And the garden is extremely dry. Yes, we know this is a dry part of the world, but a... More

Excellent place to explore. We arrived here close to sunset. The colours of red and orange on the rocks were superb. The quiver trees are so unusual and great to photograph. Well worth a look see

Despite Namibia having had poor rainfall, and therefore the gardens being dry, this was a great place to drive to on our first afternoon in Windhoek. There are lots of little trails leading through the different types of vegetation found in the country, all with explanations (on signs and on your map). Entry is free, so why not discover a...
