This is onevof the oldest horse racing track in Africa.Betting is legal in Mauritius.From the fort you can have a stunning view of the race track.Now it is a prime tourist attraction.

it was inaugurated in 1812 and is one of the oldest race course in southern hemisphere.. it was great to visit this place..

We had a lovely day out mixing with locals For 200MUR entry (approx £5) for men and free entry for women. We had a few bets at the tote stands and then went to different parts of the track / bars to watch the races...More

To watch the horse races it is the unique place in Mauritius. Events are held normally on Saturdays or Sundays. Crowded at times and many food, attraction and betting outlets.

As far as I am aware race days are every Saturday.If the weather is hot make sure you go in the VIP as there is virtually no shade in the middle of the course(plus you are really well looked after by Jacques and the team).
