I went here as part of walking tour from Tourist office. Something to see in Tana. Given I was with a guide, I wasn't bothered by beggars.

I did not stroll or walk or run or sidle or take steps in any fashion along the promomtory to reach the actual monument. I looked from a distance through my binoculars and examined the details. The monument is out in the lake . In...More

Not much of a lake, and little interest from local residents, but good landmark if you are looking for the Shoprite or Score supermarkets.

It's a nice memorial for Madagascar's soldiers. You will definitely see it when moving around the city. Not really worth getting off the car and walking to the center of the memorial.

It is not necessary to go for it. You may have a chance to just take a one shot photo when you come or go in and out the city. Inside the park arround the lake extremely dirty.

It is in the middle of a man made lake you can't go close to it. It doesn't seem to fit in the city.

This monument, as well as the artificial lake, are beautiful with the jacaranda in bloom in October. I had beautiful weather and color to enjoy in Tana. I would recommend going during the day (as they say it is dangerous at night.) While I myself...More
