A very interesting place to visit. But be super careful. They will try to cheat you, pick pocket you, but interesting to walk through the markets

Not sure what all the fuss is about! It’s a great local market, and everyone we met was very friendly if not a little surprised to see us.

Worth a visit if you’re in Tana

Side note - having read the reviews here we were sensible with keeping valuables out of sight - but no more so than we would in other places Africa / Europe or otherwise!

You can buy almost anything here!

For me, the attraction is the fresh fruit & vegetables. but for others, may be the seafood, the clothes, the hardware...

Even if you are not buying, it's a good experience to walk around and explore the sights, sounds & aromas that make up this marketplace - not to mention the personalities you will find & see.

I visited a couple of times - and did not personally have an issue - but I'd very strongly suggest you are consciously aware of pickpocketers here - plan for it before you leave your hotel, you should be OK.

The market is quite big, Long and too busy but if you need some daily stuff it is the right place to buy your needs. We bought a pair of shoes
Just take care of your wallet or telephone
I can say that it is not a magic and nice market which you definitely need to visit, But if you visit the train station and ndependence Avenue, then, turn left and then analakely is having you

Typical open air market in bustling area. Lots to see but a bit crowded.

Just about anything you could want or think you need is for sale here.

To to the crowded conditions and area poverty, this is a haven for pickpockets. Beware and protect your personal items and money.

Can be fun.

The voyager visiting Tana should not miss the Analakely market. Colorful, with many curious items on sale (like hand made bar soaps and medicinal remedies) and people friendly and smiling, but be aware that a pickpocket could be stealthily creeping towards you: but no problem, no violence. Lots of bars, restaurants and jewelries in the vicinity.Really worth a visit.

I M a market lover and whenever I arrive to a new Country the market is usually my first stop.
This is such a great market to get lost into.
Spent my first and my last day here. Bought last minute spices (cinnamon, vanilla, pepper and so on). Such a great way to end my trip in wonderful Madagascar. Chaotic, colorful and noisy. Exactly how a cool market should be.

Note: you can take photos and people will up to it. However just be aware of pickpockets when walking around. Keep an eye on your belongings and you'll be fine.

Great local market where almost you can buy almost everything.
Just stroll around.
People where super friendly all around the market.
After strolling for half an hour we also went eating at a big red covered mall next to the market. Great locap food.

Analakely has literally anything you could imagine. From fruit, veggies and seafood like oysters to clothes to livestock (chickens and ducks) and jewellery. And everything in between. A very colourful and busy market, definitely worth visiting. Just remember to bargain with the locals - they love it. Divide the initial price by 2 before buying.
