Great place to learn about & see lemurs up close
I decided to visit Lemurs Park with a couple of new friends I met during my week-long trip in Western Madagascar. Our flight from Morondava to Antananarivo arrived early in the morning so we just decided to head straight to Lemurs Park from the airport. Having already seen lemurs in the wild in Kirindy Forest and in Tsindy de Bemaraha NP, this place gave us a chance to see the lemurs up close. All the lemurs here were rescued & are protected, as they freely move & roam around the entire park. The park is very well-maintained and safe for the lemurs, and the guided tour was very informative. We also ended up having lunch here as they have a restaurant that serves really good food. Lemurs Park is only 1.5h away from Tana depending on traffic, and the guided tour around the entire park took about 3hrs, but it’s definitely worth a visit.

    Great First Mada Adventure
While it is a bit difficult to get to because of the traffic, it was the best way to start our adventures in Madagascar. The park is well run, the guides are excellent and the up close looks at the lemurs is excellent. We did the pick up/lunch and tour and it was worth every penny.

    Lemurs abound
Highly recommend this reserve. Easy drive from Tana and once there you walk along comfortable paths with a guide experiencing multiple encounters with varieties of lemur. Easy viewing and great experience.

Great place! A long taxi ride from Tana due to go-slow through the huge market along the main road. Worth it though. This is a sanctuary for rescued lemurs where there are no cages -- the lemurs run free but choose to stay as they are fed when necessary. There are 56 lemurs, 6 species.
Forbidden to walk around alone. We had an excellent 1-hour tour with an English speaking guide. Not allowed to touch the lemurs or get too close, but they are used to humans so very easy to watch at close hand and photograph. Many interesting plants too. Shop quite good.

tourists find everything positive, even if it is not. this park is totally overpriced and offers very little. most animals are imports from other countries and on top of it the guide is not includet and expects a handsome tip. go and visit the zoo at home!

Me and my husband - Neil while in Madagascar, on Saturday, 15th April, visited a private park of Lemurs kept in natural surroundings. No cages at all.

The parc is about 25 Kms from the capital city of Antananarivo - Tana for short.

Lemurs are found only in Madagascar. There are more than 100 varieties of Lemurs.

The private Park is spread over 5 hectares, all green and has 6 species of Lemurs in this park. In all there are 50 numbers of Lemurs in the park.

It is a guided tour of close to 60 - 70 minutes. The cost is Ariary 70 000 ( $ 18 approximately ) per head for an adult.

Our guide Jonathan conducted it very well.

After the tour, we had a fruit salad..consisting of guava, avocado and banana...very refreshing in the natural surroundings.

On our way back to Tana, we had boiled corn and boiled sweet potato for lunch not far from the Park. We enjoyed it.

Winter is approaching so the weather was very pleasant.

Seeing animals in their natural habitat is great fun...These Lemurs are used to human beings so they are not scared of nor do they attack people.

The heaviest Lemur can be 10 to 12 kgs.

In short - a very good experience near the city. Very much worth the efforts and money

I have been to Madagascar twice, 2004 and 2014. The first was on a private tour with a guide who took four people. The second was with our favorite expedition company, Zegrahm, a company that went under with COVID. Both trips were excellent. The lemurs are fabulous, but they are hard to see. Do not miss the Indri lemurs who howl every morning. You have to climb in a forest to find them, but you will never forget the sound!
