In my opinion... a jungle in the jungle. A gem in a gem... A patch of green in an already green country. This is, in ny opinion, the best place to head to when you want to escape the Accra City. You never get bored...More

Aburi Botanical gardens is an interesting place to visit but could be better maintained and the restaurant is small and has poor and limited offerings. On certain weekends you could be out of luck if there is an "event" taking place because then the gardens...More

Expansive but poorly maintained gardens. Still makes for a nice change of scenery and pretty route coming from Accra. Come early on weekends before the church groups and school parties turn up their PA systems' decibels. For food, go to nearby Hillburi.

Visited Aburi Botanic Gardens on March 6,2017. The old sanatorium and other buildings are derelict. Restaurants are terrible and there is a need for modern restrooms. This day was a holiday and cars were parked on garden lawns and people dancing to loud blaring music....More

Apart from the natural sights, there is little more to do. Hard to even find a suitable spot to eat if you do bring your own food -which I highly recommend else you'll be forced to eat from the ramshackled, run down 'restaurant '. This...More

This was a family outing planned for me since I had expressed an interest in a botanical garden. There was a nice variety of native plants, picnic areas and some concessions.

Don't expect much, this is not really worth a visit. The place is run down, filled with young beggars. Very very far away from any other National Botanical Garden standards. This is part of the colonial heritage and it lacks maintenance, maybe on purpose?

I loved my visit to the Aburi botanicals. You should pick a guide from the horticultural school. They know the names of the trees, and imagine my surprise when I sniffed the bark of the cinnamon tree. Also a great place for romantic walks with...More

Beautiful and well taken care off, the Aburi gardens is a great getaway from busy Accra. There are places to sit and have a picnic or have a soda or beer.

Our guide told us it was a gift from the British Queen to Ghana on one of her visits. It was, we were told, the first helicopter in Ghana.
