Unfortunately we are elderly couples and had a young son of one of the couples on this visit to the market ,it was very difficult to walk in the market as the little walkways in the market are very narrow & crowded and been very very hot we abandoned the experience , I suppose it will fe exciting for younger couples but the market is so vast spanning about approximately 8/10 square miles with throngs of people

It's a nice market and all kinds of things you are looking for are there and the prices are moderate. In case you are using a car there is a car park where you can park your car safely

Makola is more for fabrics and spices. You definitely need a local with you to help navigate. It is very spread out so have a plan ahead of time.

I enjoyed the market. There are a lot of people and I loved how I was able to negotiate prices on certain items. I highly recommend the market, but try not to look like a tourist.

Accra is so crowded without any proper traffic control and roads. its a mad rush and its very expensive.
Despite the google maps the addresses are so tough to find.
I was on an official trip and it often happened with me that the offices I wanted to visit were not there despite their location mentioned on the google maps.
Honestly, it is hard to understand Accra

This is an absolute “must see” on any trip to Accra, but do it from a distance since it has become known for pickpockets who easily spot and target tourists. Our guide took us to the top floor of a parking garage where we could enjoy the madness but not be subjected to the shoulder to shoulder movement below. There is no way to describe it. You MUST see if for yourself!

Little bit of everything at this market. There are both locals and tourists here. Food, goods, etc. Do be aware of pickpockets.

Please avoid this market. A lot of pickpocketing occurs here, to Ghanaians and tourist. I was told in advance to be careful and I thought I was being careful… and before I knew it, someone told me my purse was open. When I looked down I realized someone stole all my money but was kind enough to leave my passport in my purse. Be careful. Keep your money in your bra or clutched tightly in your hand. My Ghanaian friend told me that money was once stolen out of his breast pocket in this very market.
