I used Can Do Land Tours to help plan and conduct an extensive tour of Ghana. My friend who is part of the African Diaspora wanted to see the Slave Forts on the Ghana shoreline. Since I have traveled extensively throughout the world, I offered to plan and organize this trip for her.

I found that there are no North American companies offering tours to Ghana at this time so I contacted several companies and Can Do Land Tours provided the best response. I researched the possible places to see in Ghana and come up with Accra City Tour, Cape Coast Castle, Elmina Castle, Kakum National Park, Assin Manso Slave River and Mole National Park. Fred, the owner of Can Do Land Tours suggested that we add the Manhyia palace in Kumasi City and the Kintampo waterfalls. Between Fred and myself we came up with a eight day itinerary that included all these locations. Since we are Canadians, we did not mind that a couple of the days involved 7 hour drives as we got to see a lot of the Ghana countryside.

Fred also ensured that we got good drivers and an excellent tour guide, Esther to do the 8 day itinerary with us. What surprised me was the driver and the tour guide was also available in the evenings to ensure that we safely got dinner when we were not staying at hotels. We stayed in AirBnb's in Accra. As part of the Ghana Visa requirements, Fred had to commit to ensuring that we were safe for the entire trip. He made sure that we were picked up at the airport and returned there in time for our next flight in 8 days time.

We enjoyed the tour immensely as we got to see large areas of Ghana. I also learned about the nasty role my Dutch ancestors played in the slave trade. Both my friend and I felt very safe during the entire trip.

If you are part of the 2019 Year of Return for African Diaspora or plan to go in the following years, I would suggest that you do the itinerary that Fred and I came up with as you can do this in a week. Even if you are not part of the African Diaspora, Ghana is still an interesting place to visit.

My siblings came to visit last week and wanted to go on an Adventure. We had heard good things about Can Do from a friend and booked an adventure to the Volta Region. After hiking Ghana's tallest mountain, visiting two gorgeous waterfalls, and enjoying some delicious local food and a weekend stay at a quaint little hotel...we knew we had made the right choice! Highly Recommend the Can Do Team, they are Awesome Pa Pa Paa :)

We had a great experience with Can Do Tours to the Volta Region of Ghana. We enjoyed our guides, the lodge at Wli Falls, and the meals. We absolutely loved the Volta Region’s local villages, jungle, mountains, and waterfalls. With the help of Can Do, we enjoyed this weekend trip to its fullest potential. If you are willing to take a true Ghanaian journey it's highly recommended!

Recently undertook the following 2 tours with this tour operator:
*accra city tour
*cape coast tour

From the moment I first engaged with can do tours, the service was fantastic. They responded to my email request promptly and even my tour guide reached out to me before my departure to Ghana in order to confirm the relevant arrangements.

My guide, Emmanuel was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and engaging. Based on my interaction with him, it was clear to see that he is extremely passionate about his job.

My driver Johnathan, was exactly the same.

The one thing which stood out for me was the fact that both Johnathan and Emmanuel were extremely patient and always accompanied me at all the attractions (even if a guided tour was provided by the attraction)

During the tour they would also provide me with useful snippets of information which the tour guide may have missed.

The tours provided by can do are well arranged at are not rushed at all.

The vehicle provided was in an excellent condition and very clean.

Whilst all quotes are provided in USD, payment is accepted in local currency at the prevailing exchange rate.

If you choose to utilize can do tours in future, you will not regret the decision.!

Through Can Do Tours, I have had the most amazing experience I’ve ever had while in Ghana. The homestay tour changed my life and since then I have never been the same. It’s opened my eyes to so many different possibilities of life and I’ve fallen in love with the people, none of this would’ve been possible without Can Do Tours. The tour was amazing and showed us the real parts of Ghana and how Ghanaians live day to day. The people were very welcoming and I always felt at home. I highly recommend this tour company to anyone visiting Ghana! Oh yeah and Fred is a cool guy.

I loved Fred and this tour company so much that this is our second time back! We were blessed enough to meet Fred through semester at sea (a study abroad program) and we were taken to the village Senase. We did a 5 day homestay which changed our lives forever. We were able to meet the most incredible people and do the most incredible things. We got to help out at his school, meet locals, taught cultural dances... it was the true Ghanaian experience we’ll never forget. We had the most beautiful trip because of Fred and Can Do Land Tours. I would recommend that trip for anyone that has a desire to change lives, give back, and get a true Ghanaian experience. You won’t regret it!

I was able to book a cocoa tour just days before leaving. I was happy that the company could add two friends just the day before. The tour promised to be a 10-hour tour. In the end three of each paid $100USD and we stopped at the alleged home of the first cocoa trees of Ghana and the Cocoa Industry. Our tour guide was good, but we learned more from the guides at each location. We stopped for lunch and drove back to Accra. I would recommend doing a shorter tour at the Cocoa Industry in Accra or Tema. Unless you really want to get out of the city and see the country by car. I had a good time, but not for the price.

This trip provided a great introduction to Ghanaian culture and was a lot of fun. If you only have a little bit of time to spend in this beautiful country this tour will give you a little taste of a lot of different things and leave you wanting to come back for more.
