Large auto roundabout with a plaza in the middle, mostly surrounded by government buildings. Tough to navigate on foot, not really much here. Surrounding streets have the restaurants and shops. Plaza in under construction as of July 2018, so that might contribute.

I arrived in Addis on the anniversary of the battle of Adowa. I visited this monument to honor King Menelik II. It is impressive. It was on a roundabout so my driver went around it a few times to allow me to soak it in.

The history of 5 years occupancy was more than they could barely. I'm proud they did not just let other nations run over them and disrespect their people, heritage and independence. Bravo Ethopia!!!

If you are around this area...just walk by and take few pictures. Nothing out of the ordinary. There are several such adababais (turn arounds) all across Addis...several statues and monuments in the middle of the turn arounds
