Only a Communist would have a mausoleum of such grand design. Built in a modern Soviet style - it resembles many Soviet monuments which of course are relics of history. The tens of millions of dollars that went into the building of this monument could have been spent on housing for the poor people of Angola.

We visited with s group and enjoyed the extensive monument. The views from above to the parliament are good and the grounds are nice. It is worth seeing all the statues inside too. No pictures allowed inside but nice to see.

The final resting place of the first president of Angola is both an interesting architectural monument on true grande communist/Soviet style (symbolizing a space ship/rocket according to the guide) and as a display of the history surrounding Neto. There was an English speaking sympathetic guide who showed us around the museum located in multiple floors. For anyone interested in the... More

The monument, a memorial to former President Agostinho Neto is astonishing and you can see it from several points of the city. I tried to see the interior in several occasions with no success, the guards of this heavy secure location always said its closed.

This is one of those places that have the potential to be an amazing milestone in Angola . It is located in a very privileged and secure area, near the new "Assembleia da Republica " New Marginal, Presidential Palace, etc. Almost nothing happens there. An obelisk that costed millions of dollars and no profit coming from there . At least,... More

This must be one of the largest monuments to any communist leader in the world. I can only imagine it costing a small fortune to erect. You cannot miss it either on the skyline or driving around the parliament area
