Elephants are intelligent and gentle beasts synonymous with the plains of Africa. Shearwater’s Elephant Back Safaris offer a chance to interact with and ride these magnificent animals in their natural habitat. Each elephant forms a close bond with their Induna (elephant handler) who accompany every ride. Enjoy a sightseeing tour of some of the best natural and wildlife reserves in Zimbabwe - from atop your Elephant.

Staff, guides were excellent, sharing vast amount of knowledge about the bush and the elephants. Great stuff. Will do this again. Just as good as, if not better than Thailand's "Bridge on the River Kwai" elephant ride,

We had a beautiful morning feeding elephants with Elephant Back Safaris. Thank you to all the kind people who made it possible and went out of their way to assist us.

This was a very nice elephant back ride but we only saw one animal and a few birds. The path is well worn where they lead the elephants around and it is clear there aren't many animals in that area to see as it is...More

Started off the morning by the fire and then rode the elephants! It was so amazing, we saw giraffe that were very close to us feeding and then we went back and had a nice breakfast. It was well worth the price. Great fun!!

My wife and I took this excursion while in Victoria Falls. We saw lots of elephants while on safari prior to this excursion, but there was nothing like sitting on the back of these majestic creatures. Our elephant was somewhat non-compliant, meaning we took lots...More

I agree with the previous responses. The elephants are treated well. I was on Houdini for an hour (a little bit too long in that position). My bum was sore the next day. If you don't want to ride, you can go and just feed... More

The elephants are genuinely cared for. The guides intimately know them and all interactions with the elephants are with their well being in mind.

We booked several tours with Shearwater and paid by credit card in Zimbabwe when we did the first one. It was expensive but memorable. Have fun.
