We had an owasome drive on a Sunday late afternoon. We had a chance to come close and see in real life animals such as the white rhino, giraffe, kudu , zebra etc. Afterwards we had a braii within the park. It was an experience never to forget.

Outlying only 32km from the capital, Lake Chivero is one of the best places in Zimbabwe to spot white rhinos in the wild. The park comprises high-veld woodland and is centred around the scenic lake and rocky outcrops reminiscent of Matobo National Park.

We actually visited the Game Park side of the lake. Accessible principally for 4x4s. Little game, but saw two rhinos with eartags and cut horns, in order to try and persuade poaching! We lunched in the Recreational Park side at Hunyani Lodge. An experience of yester year with charming staff.

Potentially this beauty spot could be a lot better.Needs money spending on it, Needs some proper infrastructure. No proper cafe/restaurant near beech (have for instance to go way back to hotels for a toilet). No proper seating or benches to sit anywhere. Shame really, it could be a very nice & peaceful spot

The lake is polluted by sewage efluent from Harare and Chitungwiza. Native bream and the Tiger Fish (a once favourate sport fish for anglers) have gone extinct. Cattle often seen garazing in the park. Path to bushman paintings needs repair.

The lake has different spots to choose. Other areas have privacy, on the other side people will be playing on the sand adjacent to the lake and have braai stands. Good for parties.

though the water has receded, the view is so good. People really enjoyed the cool breeze whilst braaing and dancing in open air. It was such a good day people lost track of time and were reminded by darkness creeping in. There were a lot of people coming for different events showing how good the place is for merry making.
