I visited the ancient Roman ruins of Carthage, near the city of Tunis. I can safely say there are no catacombs there, or in the city of Tunis itself. There are catacombs in Sousse. What I believe is happening, is that people are using the term of catacombs incorrectly. Save yourself the confusion and wild goose chase. There are only ruins near Tunis.

Mostly ruins but gives you a good idea of how an old city would have been. Interesting how the romans were so advanced for their age and how well they built things that evan today we can visit and see them.

The catacombs are surely another great historical place in Tunis, that is unfortunately not very known. But that's a very fortunate thing for visitors, as there is less people and you will have more time to appreciate, the antic elements.

Where are the Catacombs located? I've found information about the ones in Sousse, but there is no address listed here and it makes me think this is possibly a page about the Catacombs of Sousse, which is located close to Tunis but definitely not in the capital city.
