I have spent many hours walking through el Medina. I found this place by a chance. The place shows it former glory, but it is very neglected and it needs a lot patient restoration (not only renovation). However, it is still worth of visiting it, as it is part of the oldest part of Tunis.

Worth a look if you're interested in Islamic architecture and art. The main medersa has a nice and tasteful inner courtyard reminding of Western European monasteries - and taht courtyard offers the quiet you may need after strolling the old town market streets of Tunis.

It is pretty, it is no longer a school, the room appear to be rented for office space. However the key features are preserved.

Visited Medrasa Suliymana (spelling?) one of the most helpful guides I have ever experienced - who did not expect, or ask for, a tip! In the courtyard was a fascinating display of photographs of the recent revolution.
