A beautiful historic building in the middle of Tunis Medina, Dar El Jeld is now refurbished and run as a boutique hotel. They managed to respectfully keep its traditional character and still upgrade it with modern facilities. Make sure you visit the rooftop, which offers panoramic views of the medina - and great drinks.
It is a privilege to stay there and enjoy Tunis at its best !

I cannot say enough about Dar El Jeld. From the moment their driver picked us up at the airport to checkout, every interaction was perfect. The common spaces and suites are stunning. The room are luxuriously appointed with beautiful furniture, artwork, linens, etc. The room was quiet and private. What sets this property apart was the kindness, and hospitality of the staff. From the wonderful in room breakfasts, to the dates, sweets, and fruit that accompanied the evening turn down service. Dart El Jeld is a World class hotel.

Probably our favourite door in the medina. The hotel inside is luxurious and the rooftop restaurant excellent. Next time we will try the spa!

I went for dinner and drinks here and the hotel building, the one that says "Diwan" is probably free to access if you ask nicely

One of the most photographed corners of the medina. It is the gate of a hotel but basically anybody takes a picture here. All the area with the side street is relatively clean and nice to walk in.

One of the best places to take a picture with a traditional yellow door. Next to it are many cute streets which are great for walks

TO be honest, it is designed as a super lux hotel. The suites are very spacious, very clean (The cleaning staff is very good at their jobs). The reception area and the spa is also increadible. However there some somethings that does not match with this "super luxury" understanding. First of all, they only have 1 kind of pillows. I have nevr ever experienced such thing in a luxury hotel in my life. In some hotels I have stayed ( even not as lux as this one) they have at least 4 types of pillows you can choose from. The pillows were too soft that we had to put towels underneath to be able to sleep.Second issue is internet. They have 2 different smart tvs in one room (Thi si how lux the suites are) but the wi fi does not work unless you are infront of the door ! This was unbelieveable. And the worst experience was, our suite's aircondition broke. They could not fix it and although there were spare rooms, they made us wait more then an hour in a hot room. They did change our suit eventually(aFter 4 phone calls and 2 trips to the front desk) and in this next suite, air condition worked but we could not shut it off when we wanted to, we had to find the power switches and find out which one is for the air conditioner and turn it of that way....Would I stay in this hotel again ? Probably yes, but the prices should be a little lower for this service. The best thing in the hotel was, after all, the staff (especially the cleaning ladies.)
