Our lodge was located less that 50 meters from the banks of the Grumeti River. The hippos were noisy throughout the night. The make a variety of noises. After dark, armed escorts take you to and from your "tent".

We loved the animals, drinking and wandering around. The view was beautiful of the sky, the grasses, the water and the whole African scene.

We observed many Wilderbeast and Zebra making the river crossing, it's not as wide as the Mara river, but still worth the experience

Unfortunately, the Grumeti River was very low and the wildebeest had already crossed it when we arrived. I guess it is all a matter of timing. We nevertheless enjoyed being amongst the herds of migrating wildebeest, despite the low water level.

We stayed right near the river. Lots of hippos and crocodiles. We also saw two different prides of lions, one up close and personal (they were just a couple of feet off the road) and the other was about 100 yards away. Lots of wildebeests,...More
