I could not have been better looked after. Trekkinghero took great care of me from the moment that I booked until well after I summited. A wonderful and professional outfit they are. Without their care and attention I doubt if I would have successful in reaching Uhuru Peak. Thanking you all again.

We had an excellent experience with Trekking Hero. We did the Lemosho route and summited Kilimanjaro. We also did the day excursions to the waterfall/coffee plantation and the beautiful spring. In addition, we did the 3-day safari. We enjoyed the various guides and the porters. I highly recommend Trekking Hero since they are local, have years of experience and are reliable. I appreciated the quick response to any questions we had before and during the trip. They were helpful in guiding us through the Covid testing travel requirements.

You must use TrekkingHero if you consider going to Kili at all!!!!! What an amazing experience, I don't even know where to start to describe how fantastic this entire company has been. I had booked this trip in 2019 before Covid and travel restrictions hit and needless to say I had to change my trip 3 different times. Raine, my sales contact was always available to help me, reassure me and went above and beyond. When I finally and after 3 rebooking and changes was able to depart the US, I got stuck in Kenya and with short notice almost missed my trip. TrekkingHero helped me get a safe and reliable driver to take me from Nairobi to the Kenya-Tanzania border so I could walk across the border and catch another driver to take me to Moshi on time to start my trek. Make no mistake, crossing this order on foot as a single, white gal is no easy feat and I am thankful for the support. The company went out of their way to help me and its a real sign of how much they care to help their travelers. I hiked the Marangu route with Bariki and John, my amazing guides and was able to add the additional acclimatization day which I will recommend to anyone looking to hike this route. To travel during a pandemic turned out to be to my gain as we had the entire mountain almost to ourselves. What an incredible and SAFE experience, I am highly recommending to travel right now if you are able to. You get to see Kilimanjaro uncrowded, support the guides and porters when they need you the most and you wil not regret it. This was a once in a lifetime experience for me and I will forever hold a spot in my heart for John and Bariki for making this happen for me. Not only did I reach the top, but they ensured everyone in our group reached the top regardless of fitness levels. They are kind, funny, knowledgable and experienced and have a great deal of patience and go out of their way to make sure you have the best experience. Everyone at TrekkingHero went above and beyond for us. They treat their porters better than fair, take care of their mountain, provide the best equipment and don't even get me started on how great the food it. Its amazing what the chef cam come up with, i have a gluten allergy and I only had to tell them one time before departure. Every meal was specially cooked for me, aside form the main group and it was more than I could eat, several courses and some of the best food I have ever had. I can not recommend this company enough, you must use TrekkingHero if you decide to climb Kilimanjaro. There is no better company out there, trust me, I know. Not only have I spent a lot of time in Tanzania but I did a lot of research to ensure the company would meet my requirements and would provide benefits to the local economy and not just the larger companies. Bariki - John - Raine - MrSimba - Richard - Chef - You will bring a smile to my face when I think about this trip for the rest of my life. Forever grateful for your support and your "rafiki" always.

Various issues had been brought up with our guide, the lack of the extra porter ( that we paid for) was discussed, He actually said they would send one out the next day but that didn’t happen, plus a problem with our daughters sleeping bag not being able to zip up, this was not rectified sufficiently, so she was cold at night. Also the 4am start had been organised through the company was discussed but not really listened to, we were just told that it was too late to be able to get to the next camp, even though it had been moved to Millenium! Due to the rain and the fact that all our gloves and boots were saturated, we decided not to summit and expected to just continue on to the next camp but we were walked 18km from Barafu to the exit gate which was absolutely miserable. At one stage my partner was having such a bad time of it that he was prepared to run screaming into the forest to live with the monkeys instead of continuing on. We had mentioned several of these issues in the evaluation forms at the end of the trip but it is quite hard to give an accurate evaluation when the people you are evaluating are sitting right there with you. Also, all the other treks we have been on, we were taken to a different restaurant for the farewell dinner, instead of just more of the same. Don’t misunderstand, Key’s Hotel was fine but we had already eaten there for 5 days. Another issue that was particularly unpleasant was not having any shelter at the Lava Towers to stop for lunch. Many groups obviously had lunch tents set up but we had to eat our lunch sitting on a rock in our ponchos in the pouring rain, which made it even more unappetising. We understand that food supply is different on Kili but it is not hard to make a variety of dishes with the ingredients on hand. We could think of a dozen other things we could have served up that would have been more appetising. The menu didn’t need to be so repetitive and the food so badly cooked! Trekking Hero really needs to up their game compared to the other companies we have gone with. Yes, the others had a couple of small problems too but the guides were very attentive and keen to make things better for us.
