The market is busy with local and international traders and tourists. It has all one can need in a trade place; from farms produce, clothing, automotive related trade, hotels and lodges, restaurants and bars, intercity and international bus rides, you can mention it, Kariakoo will give you. You can actually travel to Dar es Salaam and have all you need before returning to your country. It can get too congested too, so you need to take care of your wallets and bags.

I managed to get everything I needed from the market, from shampoo, body lotion a mobile charger and a towel. Definitely a place to shop around when in Dar but you need a local to walk you around because of the congestion in the market and how husy the streets are.

A very good place to shop around for whatever you might need and at very cheap prices the only hinderance is that the place is congested at all times. Definitely a good place to visit while in Dar.

I luckily went with a local as even though I consider myself well travelled this would have been an intense experience on my own.
Just lots of people crammed between stalls selling everything for local people. It’s an experience probably wouldn’t go again.
Advise from my local friend hold on to everything when you’re there as pickpockets are rife. I had no issues but if that’s the advice from the locals - it’s probably good advice

I had never been to such a congested area. Nonetheless i liked how friendly the people are. If you visit this place, careful of fake police on your way out of Kariakoo to Morogoro road.

Best market place and biggest I suppose in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. Very good local & international stuff at best cost.Almost everything you think of you get here. Bargain is must. Take necessary safety measures as required at any crowded marketplace to avoid thefts. If possible get acquainted to the swahili language basics. Friendly people if dealt with generosity respect. Asante Sana for this wonderful shopping experience to local people of Tanzania Dar Es Salaam.
