This is the gate you will go through on the way to the Saadian Tombs and perhaps El Badi Palace (ruins). Look out for the storks nests in the top of the ramparts in the arch gate. This is a section of the Marrakech old...More

This is the most ornate of the entry gates in the Ramparts surrounding the Medina. Apart from its size and some carved inscriptions, nothing too special. Best viewed from across the road.

If you appreciate the history behind this gate involving the Almohad movement, then you will really appreciate this. However, there is quite a bit of traffic in front and I suggest you look at the whole thing from afar across the street.

Although it was an interesting city gate, there is not much to see besides the carving detail. The Blue Gate in Fes was a bit more impressive.

Be careful when crossing the wide street to enter the gate. The traffic is fast. Once inside the walkways are narrow. The area is historic with tombs, Mosque and a Palace. The gate faces south and is decorative. This is a worthy and impressive place...More

Came across this large gateway coming from the main souks on our way to the tombs. Had to stand in the middle of the road to get a good photo. Good information board just inside telling you all about it
