The very early morning is the time to really enjoy life in this vibrant medina, filled with wonderful sights and smells...all that we travelers were looking for in Marrakech. But enjoy it while you can before the onslaught of motorbikes which encounter your every turn, even in the remotest alleyways, blasting through impossible crowds and destroying the experience. Sorry but... More

This medina and its souks is a shoppers paradise, as long as you are prepared to do business with rude, aggressive shopkeepers. There are lots of places you can escape to if you are prepared to walk and lose yourself in the narrow lanes. Take a good map. It's well worth exploring the quiet more residential lanes.

The Medina is easy to reach by free transfers by major hotels or a short taxi ride. The main entrance is lined with horse drawn carriages with an overpowering horsey smell. If you want to hire a carriage, agree the price and the length of the ride before you get in. The main square is crowded with snake charmers, henna... More

The medina truly is the heart of Marrakech. It's impossible not to get lost but you'll always find your way in the end and discover some interesting sights on the way. The streets are constantly bustling with people, donkeys and motor bikes some of which whizz through the smallest spaces! After dark it gets busier still as locals tend to... More

Experienced the Medina and the Souks in Marrakech for the first time recently. WOW! A culture shock but a very positive one. A total immersion and experience for the senses. Sights! Smells! Sounds! Activity! Buzz! Atmosphere! Confusing at first but my experience was that everyone looked out for everyone else. Lost ? Just ask a vendor and they will point... More

The Medina is absolutely awful. If you are thinking of going don't. It is dirty and oppressive. The guides are relentless, rude and downright crooked. We were well aware of the problem with the guides but others in our group fell foul of them. They will tell you that they are part of your hotel or tour which is a... More

Loved it. Always something going on from snake charmers to traditional music. Take a carriage ride and toilet paper. Not many public toilets and catching a public bus at night is a nightmare. Taxis are everywhere, just remember you can negotiate a price. Beggars are everywhere, so if you feel inclined, save your coins. Enjoy :0)
