The "big square" is a fascinating, bustling center of the Medina, especially at night. Food is everywhere, including oranges, kebabs and other goodies. There are snake charmers, musicians, dressed up characters, monkeys and , yes, handout seekers. It is safe, just watch for pickpockets. Restaurants...More

During the day it is a very open space. Odd snake charmers and stalls selling orange juice. Far better to visit at night when all of the food stalls are set out and the atmosphere is brilliant. Many families are there late in to the...More

The central square in Marrakech is alive with activity all day and well into the night. In the evening, food stalls abound. During the day and into the evening, merchants sell all sorts of products and souvenirs. It is important to bargain and that can...More

I loved this place. By day it was a frying pan of snake charmers and, unfortunately, poorly looked after monkeys. By night this place comes to life! Thousands of people, hundreds of places to eat traditional food, but be wary of places trying to rip...More

We visited the square several times over our holiday. The orange juice is very nice but do make sure its not watered down with ice. I recommend stall 19. The henna women were a little forceful. There are some great places to watch the world...More
