About
Welcome to Toubkal Adventure Expedition. Trekking is one of the very best things Morocco has to offer. All of our tours travel to remote, off the beaten track areas, and to traditional Berber villages populated by friendly local people living a life that’s changed little over hundreds of years. If you want to trek in Morocco during the summer, head for the High Atlas to climb either Toubkal (4167m) North Africa’s highest peak, or Jebel Mgoun (4071m) North Africa’s second, or both. In the winter we head further south to walk in the Anti-Atlas or Jebel Saghro ranges. This is a popular option for those new to trekking or looking for a gentle one week holiday which combines the best of rural Morocco and the vibrant city of Marrakech.

Mohamed acted as our guide on two walks from Targa Imoula to the Tizi-n-Tamaert pass , and on the second day to Aremed ( setting off point for Jbel Toukal). We had lunch at the Tamatert Guest House on the first walk, and at a Berber house in Ait Souka on the second walk. Both offered great value, copious quantities of food and a more authentic experience than we could have organised for ourselves.

Mohamed is an experienced Mountain Guide and qualified to lead on Jbel Toukal, but also qualified to arrange tours across the whole of Morocco as an experienced National Guide. His english was excellent, and he was able to accomodate specific requests at short notice to customise our itinerary. We were a group of six and would not hesitate to use his services again or to recommend him to others.

From start to finish my experience on this trip was seamless and throughly enjoyable. I was looking for a soul searching adventure and that’s exactly what I got.

My guide, Mohamed, was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and thoughtful. Throughout the trek he provided great conversation, gave incredible insight into the local communities and the surrounding landscape and was fully aware of it was time for silence and complete immersion into what is a truly breathtaking environment. As I was in search of a challenge, Mohammed was also more than happy to guide me to the top of the mountain on the first day following the initial hike from Imlil.

With regards to the food, I was if anything overdid throughout the trip. All meals were delicious and I was given them an immediately after requested. The best meal coming at the end of the trip in Mohamed’s house where I was privileged to meet his family.

My trip concluded with a visit from the organiser of my hike, also named Mohamed. He was keen to hear of my exploits and my good health. He’s even been in contact since!

All in all an incredibly organised trip and a great insight into Berber culture. I’d recommend a going between January and April for those that fancy the added challenge of beautiful African snow and ice cold refuges!

A 3.5 day hike with mules across Morocco’s Jbel Saghro was mostly an enjoyable experience accessable to all hikers of moderate fitness. The highlight was a diversity of landscapes, harsh black volcanic peaks topped by immense sandstone castles, precipitious gorges, palm and almond groves and isolated berber villages. The 56 km hike is superb, the food was plentiful fresh and varied, and the support team of cook and muleteers were friendly, helpful and efficient. The Berber house at the start of the trek was very basic but simple, clean and sufficient for an overnight stay prior to the hike. So, the four stars in this review reflect what was for me, overall, a satifying and enjoyable experience.

However, it must also be said that the guide, Ahmed, was without doubt the worst guide in my forty years of hiking experience. No info ahead of each day’s hike, no explanation of interesting features, no effort to ensure that very basic camping needs were met (for example, no warm water provided for washing on a sub-zero night), no checking on a person missing dinner 2 nights in a row (because ill). I understand that the guide was himself ill, and this likely impacted on what he could do for the people in his care.

The quality of the rest of the team, a spectacular landscape, and some wonderful hiking companions ensured that I did, despite the noted shortcomings, very much enjoy myself.

The tour was a lot more than expected.
Our guide was the very knowlegable and passionate Muhammed and the driver Saeed who skilfully navigated through all kinds of terrain.
Our trip was customised and was spread over 10 days. We covered Essouira. Agadir, Marrakesh, Azrou, Fez, Tanger. Blue City and Rabat. The pace was leisurely, with stops for photos/ meals. The country is amazing with its varied landscape and stunning views.
A good guide I believe made a big difference. I strongly recommend Muhammed.

We brought our family (kids 4 & 7) to Imlil and we were professionally guided by Mohammed to the Cascade Waterfalls and beyond to a Berber house for food. We had sturdy shoes and despite the cool morning, we were warmly welcomed and set at ease by Mohammed’s honest and friendly character. Both my kids were taken by the hand where the path gradient steepened, across wooden bridges and across the valley on an agreed length of walk (1.5-2hrs). My youngest took him by the hand nearly the whole length of the hike, forming a close bond, and we all trusted him throughout. Pictures were taken and information shared as if we’d known him a lot longer than a couple of hours! After arriving at the lunch destination, we were greeted with what was the Best Tagine Ever! Another one elsewhere did not even come close to the hospitality shown to us on our day on what proved to be a wonderful introduction to this region of the Atlas Mountains. Thank you Mohammed! George says Hi!

I travelled for 14 days with a group of 23 people and our guide Mohammed Imerhane through the south of Marroko. During our september trip a lot of rainfall had happened in this region. Making it quite difficult to traverse though these parts. Yet, Mohammed kept us wel informed about any disturbances and options for visits/excursions. Additionally, he allowed us to decide on any changes in planning. Furthermore, Mohammed knew a lot about the local culture and nature of places we visited. Overall the trip was great and the guide was excellent!

I went on a 3 day trek up to mount Toubkal and had a brilliant time. The climb itself wasn’t too challenging as we took it easy, which only gave me more time to take in the stunning scenery. As the rock gave way to snow higher up, there was a very real sense of adventure.

My guide was very knowledgeable and I feel like I learnt a lot about the local culture as we were walking. The meals were delicious and there was plenty of food!

Unfortunately we couldn’t summit Toubkal due to bad weather but my guide was very good at organising an alternative peak to climb.

I would definitely recommend using Toubkal Adventure. I’ll certainly be going back to conquer mount Toubkal!

Mohammed Imerhane was our guide for two treks in Imlil this month; one was a stiff climb (we are in our 70s!) from the village to Tizi Tamertert and the second a gentler stroll around the surrounding hamlets. Mohammed was an excellent guide, leading at a pace that was comfortable for us; his English was good and he shared lots of info about flora & fauna in the Atlas, and we talked about wider stuff to do with Morocco. We would recommend him very highly.

We were a party of climbers ascending the Ouanoums ridge on Toubkal. Mohammed (who runs the above company) organised tents, sleeping bags, porter, mule, gas and some basic food for a cheaper price than staying in the mountain refuge. Mohammed also arranged an excellent guide for us; Youssef. I recommend Mohammed for anyone organising a trip up Toubkal.
