Memorial du Martyr is among places that is worth visiting in Algiers. You can enjoy the view of the city from the hill top while learnig the rich history of Algeria. There is a museum which unfortunately I did not have a chance to visit. The place also have a number of shops, restaurants and cafes.

Certainly an impressive structure and very nice harbor views. Museum and a popular visit for natives, makes this a worthwhile stop.

Beneath the tall monument to the Martyrs of Algeria is the subterranean museum of the Martyrs. Here one will find the history of Algiers outlined and illustrated. There is a good selection of artifacts and tableau showing the type of activity that took place including torture - so beware!

Even if you are not aware of the history of Algeria, once you visit the Memorial du Martyr just to see it for itself, you will find the great museum immediately below the huge monument where you become well aware of the history of Algeria, provided you read French / Arabic. The view from the place is excellent and you... More

Well it is the tallest and most beautifull structure in Algiers. Below it you can find the war museum of the algerian revolution that hosts all the weapons and pictures of the revolution.

You will enjoy knowing Algeria history when you visit Memorial du Martyr. Also you will feel how much suffering the people did face.
