Great stop on the way from West Yellowstone to Jackson. So glad we did it - well worth the $5. Bring the bug spray! When you leave, if you’re headed to Jackson, WY don’t forget to stop at the Lower Falls turnout too (free)
We were traveling through from Bear Lake to Montana. We had a large group with teens down to babies. We parked in overflow parking at the upper Mesa falls. There is a pay station there for a $5 day fee per car (I believe it...More
The Falls were very pretty, but the mosquitoes were very active. The young ladies in the Visitor Center highly recommended bug spay and even sold it there. They told us that they were getting bitten even with spray. We did follow their advice and applied...More
I have lived in Idaho for 60 years and never heard of Mesa Falls. A co-worker mentioned it so we decided to take a trip to eastern Idaho and WOW we were not disappointed! Beautiful cascading waterfalls, plenty of viewing platforms up and close to...More
We stopped here as it was pretty much en route from Rexburg to our next overnight stop at Gallatin Gateway.
It’s an easy 50 minute drive from Rexburg and is accessed via the Scenic Drive. Both the lower and upper Falls are well signposted.
We drove the Mesa Falls Scenic Byway on our way up to Yellowstone. It was not crowded at all, and it was gorgeous. The views of the Grand Teton range were spectacular, and we spotted several marmots (including two just lying in the middle of...More

The visitor Centre is only a short walk from the falls, which can be accessed down a wooden stepped walkway. It only takes a couple of minutes. However, there is a charge for parking your car here. If you see my review of the falls the picture was taken from the wooden walkway. The drop from the centre to the falls is only about 50 feet. If you want to get to the lower falls, this is a much longer walk from the separate car park, down a long slope sup pounded by trees. You can see the falls in the distance though.
