Pele's chair is a rock formation on the coast that looks like a huge chair from certain angles. Most of the hike is flat and in the open (bring a hat, sunscreen, and water), but the last bit is a bit of a scramble over...More

We're intrigued by ancient Hawaiian sites and read about Pele's Chair. Pele was the Goddess of the volcano and Hawaiian legends are rich with references to her. As you drive toward Diamond Head from the Windward shore, look to your left, you'll see Pele's Chair...More

Love swimming at Pele's Chair in the mornings. The water is crystal clear and it's best before the tide comes in. Bring reefwalkers and snorkels for best experience. Leave valuables in car. Place belongings on a rock high enough so when tide comes in you...More

There's a lagoon just down from pele's chair where the locals like to jump in. Be careful as it's quite rocky but it's definitely worth the experience. Bring some snorkel masks too and you'll see some colorful fish swimming by your toes.

What a great natural gift of mother Pele. You can see this on the hike to Makena Lighthouse as well. Be careful as the trail can be tricky. Take water and rest breaks. Worth the hike.

This place is absolutely beautiful. We had such fun hanging out near the water and snorkeling. We hiked down to the left (about a 45 minute hike which you need tennis shoes for) to the tide pools which were breathtaking. There were some neat fish...More

It was the highlight of our trip. It was rather quiet, compared to Waikiki. The water is super clear and calm. You feel like you're part of the sea without being battered by the huge waves. Best to drive up tho. The nearest bus is...More

The path to Pele's chair comes right off the path to Makapuu lighthouse. You go down into a trail within the grass and follow it all the way to a beach clearing. There were only a couple other people there so it's a pretty nice...More
