We had a great time here snorkelling with our 12 and 11 year old daughters who are new to snorkelling. Walk in entry, but beware of sea urchins in the shallows. Nice calm waters and a lot of fish and coral. The road becomes quite narrow as you get close to Ahihi so reduce speed and use caution when meeting... More

This was the 1st place we snorkeled and it was the best out of the 3 places we went. Lots of coral and colorful fish. Water was clear as long as sun was shining...at times it was a bit murky. The water depth is shallow to deep depending on how far you choose to venture. The water was very calm... More

This place is special because it is small and simple. Before going down to the water, there is a volunteer who greets you to answer any questions. There is no lifeguard, but there are no big currents. There is a rocky approach, so where some flip flops that you will leave just on the rocks by the water. The water... More

We found this spot after trying a few others first. The water is very clear and the variety of colorful fish and coral gardens is amazing! We went early in the day, before 10am as the water anywhere you snorkel is best before noon. Beaches are not ideal for lounging on, it is mostly very rocky and can be a... More

Ankle deep there are schools of fish! Amazing varieties of sea life, including turtles! I saw several schools just floating in the current...one larger fish with wonderful turquoise and green colours, had big teeth he was banging on the coral And you could hear it!

Most days, the water was crystal clear. Fish, turtles, and reef creatures are plentiful, even though the coral is mostly dead. You have to walk a lava path for about 5 minutes from the parking lot to the entry, so make sure you have appropriate footwear.

We are somewhat inexperienced snorkelers but had a very pleasant time snorkeling off the concrete ramp near the park entrance. We were there on a weekday morning and there were already several families and couples snorkeling in the small cove. I did get bumped into a few times. But as we made our way a bit farther from shore it... More

If you drive beyond the developed tourist area and the glitzy hotels of Wailei Beach you will come to a fairly rough road (the only one) and you will enter the Ahihi kinua Narurak Area Preserve. it is an extensive lava field that comes down to the waters edge and gives a very different perspective of Maui and well worth... Very beautiful scenery, you should make an effort to stop and at least spend a few minutes or all day

This might be a little skewed -- as I finally got to be comfortable snorkeling. The problem -- I am not much of a swimmer, I like ocean, beach, and etc, but I just can't swimming worth a damn. So, go figure, I was never very comfortable snorkeling -- or attempting snorkeling. This trip changed it, many factors, I guess.... More
