Yes, the road is full of hairpins, steep grades and one-lane passages. I would recommend only taking this route clockwise, during the day and respecting the road. That way you are generally always hugging the wall on the turns. Honk around blind turns and take...More

This trip was really a special special experience (I drove a pickup). Please DON'T drive if you do not feel 100% confident!

It's a narrow windy road and you have to be careful, but it is worth as you get a lot of scenic views.

Secret: This is the BEST side of the island by far! A lot of it has been repaved since we last drove on it, and an entire new section has been cleared and added in the Kahakuloa side. Don't be afraid by the WIMP DRIVERS...More

Seriously. Don't. Do. It. We were even driven by an experienced native to the area and I was scared for my life. Turning around at the blow hole would have saved 5 years I lost on my life from the stress that day. We had...More

Howdy! So basically we took this route by accident. Long story short, we went to go visit the Nakalele blowhole a little before sunset. We had to go back to Kihei, google maps showed it took an extra 12 mins "turning left" instead of "turning...More
