I booked this couples massage for a Christmas present, definitely not worth the $400. The resort is beautiful, and the spa waiting room was nice, but there were no other amenities besides the massage. I should’ve done more research on what the day would look like.
My husbands masseuse was apparently magical in his feet, except that each time she walked, her shoes stuck and squeaked, making it hard to relax. My massage was ok, he didn’t really hear me when I asked him to focus on my feet the most, followed by my back.
Don’t bother with the “sounds of the ocean with cool breeze rooms” - all you will hear is pool noise with Sheraton guests yelling at the kids.
Overall, disappointing when you can’t really relax.

This is not an actual spa experience. There was no steam room, sauna or even bathrobes given, let alone a place to shower prior to my massage. My masseuse was wonderful but that’s about it. Don’t waste your money and go elsewhere. How disappointing!

On the minus side:
There's no amenities (spa, sauna, steam, etc)...it's pretty straightforward. You arrive and await your appointment. You have it. You leave thereafter. Which is fine...just not what we had been expecting. Maybe that's our fault given what we're used to at these types of luxury resorts...
On the plus side:
Hiroko gave one of the best massages I've ever experienced in my life. She has magical hands and was most definitely a seasoned professional. The highest of praise! So relaxing!

Great location if you're staying at the Sheraton, Maui, and the facilities are very nice. Staff was not particularly accommodating and our adult daughter had a very unpleasant experience. There are better options along Kaanapali Beach.

It is our last day in Menu , so we both agree , the Spa is one of the things we have to do , before our Dinner cruise to night , the Spa is located in the Sheraton Resort , very upscale , luxury , spacious atmosphere , fantastic way to rejuvenation , and restoration , we reserved the early booking for " Couple Message " for 80 minutes so quiet and peaceful , NO NOISY at all ! therapist very friendly and professional great techniques , I know good message when I get one , but this time , It is not good but Fantastic GREAT ! experience like no other excellent retreat , also we are in very private area with the early morning topical breezes , very put me on top of the word , it is Heaven and earth truly a five star tranquil Oasis ! not expensive at all , lot of different packages to choose from .

When we visited the spa, I was just over 20 weeks pregnant with twins. We don't do massages very often (especially being pregnant) so I emailed them asking what they could and couldn't do for me. After that email, we went back and forth, about a month prior, I would say a half dozen times, ironing out the details of what massages, what days/times, how long, whether we'd like one room or two and men or women masseuses. I tried to get a facial but every day/time that worked for what combo of massage we wanted, they weren't able to provide a facial before or after (not a big deal - just would have been an added bonus!).
Because we were staying at the Westin for the first half of our trip, The Spa at Back Rock was nearby and reasonably priced (I had put together a spreadsheet of spas to compare prices and this was one of the cheapest).
We walked the boardwalk North until you basically couldn't go any further and across a grassy area, you can see the spa. We got there about 30 minutes early so we chilled in their outdoor lounge area, sipping water.
My husband got the Eleu Therapeutic Massage (he wanted the deepest tissue massage he could get) and I got the prenatal massage. When we got called back to our room, we had two wonderful masseuses. The music was perfect, as was the temperature in the room. My husband's massage was really deep and mine targeted all the right areas. I tend to get headaches after massages, most likely from all the lotions, and this was no different.

Loved my Lomi Lomi massage I had under a cabana by the water. See photo below of the view from the massage table. Therapist Eliana was wonderful.

What a great experience. I did an 80 min massage with Ginger and it was exceptional. The massage was in an outdoor enclosed lanai which was soothing. A variety of techniques were used including hot stones and hot towels. My areas of concern were addressed and I am one happy camper. Will definitely be back.

I enjoyed my massage at the Spa at Black Rock. I had a choice between an outdoor cabana massage or an indoor treatment. I chose the indoor massage, because I wanted privacy and serenity. Ellen was an excellent masseuse and was friendly and attentive.

I am use to resort spas having a little something extra. Most that I have went to have you change into your robe and have a steamroom etc for you to use. This doesn't not have any extras. The massage and person doing it were both great but for spa pricing I expect extras.

What are the spa amenities? Does the spa have a pool or hot tub separate from the rest of the hotel? Sauna? Steam room?

Staying at Hyatt. Where is best place to get snorkel equipment that I won't have to carry a long distance to Black Rock?

Hi - I'm guessing the Snorkel Store has life vests, noodles, etc They'd probably throw those in free of charge with a snorkel gear rental. Worth asking

Is it difficult to snorkel around black rock? Do you have to be an experienced swimmer?
Kirk P
Waxahachie, TX217 contributions
Generally speaking, a novice could snorkel here. The depth changes slowly and for the most part, there is no current due to its proximity to the rock ledge. HOWEVER, those adventurous types who head out past the end of the point can at times be pulled on by a pretty good current...nothing that can not be overcome, but for those who panic easily or are not comfortable with their snorkeling skills, it could be scary.

How deep is the water? I am wondering if there are some shallow snorkelling spots for children and if not, are life jackets available to rent nearby?
It is shallow at some spots but not at the snorkeling spots its shallow for adults but kids can touch it if they can swim good and hold there breath good

The last time we visited Maui was in 1990, the year I learned to surf. After that we have always stayed where we could surf the north and south shores of Oahu. We will be back at the Mahina Surf on Jan 10 2016 for our 5th visit. Love the place. Which hotel has Valet Parking the closest to Black Rock snorkeling? Thank you so much. See you in January.

My husband have been to Maui several times. We are wondering if it is possible to walk from The Mahana, past Black Rock and the Sheraton to the Whaler's Village? We've made the trek several times, but can't figure out how to go beyond Black Rock from The Mahana side to the Sheraton side. Please advise. Thanks so much.

I didn't do it, but I understand that you either go through the Sheraton, or through its parking lot.
How did you get to the hotel…did you rent a car, or take a taxi? Or is there a shuttle available…?

I stayed at the Sheraton but you can park at whalers village for cheap and it's a 5 minute walk to black rock.
