About
This well-shaded, sinuous beach is home to one of the largest fringing reefs in Hawaii, and an excellent spot for swimming and snorkeling. It’s one of the safest beaches on Kauai, making it especially popular amongst families with kids. Green sea turtles, Hawaii’s state fish (triggerfish), and tropical reef fish are examples of common marine life you can spot in the area. For those keen on trying watersports, windsurfing is exceptionally popular due to the steady winds. Otherwise, roll out your beach gear on one of the tranquil sandy inlets and enjoy the privacy. Come early and score a picnic pavilion for splendid views. – Tripadvisor

Easy, relaxing. Swimming and turtle spotting
We visited three times during our weeklong stay in mid-July, and it was by far our favorite beach on Kauai. Arrived at different times on different days - early morning (8am), late morning (10:30ish) and mid/late afternoon (3:30pm) and always found a parking spot without waiting. The convenience of the parking so close to the beach was a dream for this mom with a lot to carry, as was the abundance of shade. We had very calm water on 2 sunny days. The third was the late morning visit- water was still swimmable but not ideal for snorkeling due to partly cloudy and windy conditions that had me drifting westward while snorkeling. Didn’t see an abundance of fish but there was variety. Seeing turtles was an absolute thrill, and three at once was the coolest. And we didn’t have to swim out too far to see them. Our starting point was from the big trees with showers under/close by, to the right of the boat ramp. The other was left of the boat ramp. If not for days sightseeing at other parts of the island, we would have been on this beach.

Great family friends beach with easy snorkeling
Great family friendly beach! We got there early - seemed like spots really filled up around 10. 930-10 was like magic hour for sleeping in tourists to wake up coordinate arrival time together. Was our kids first time snorkeling. Lots of very accessible coral and even got a turtle sighting! Even with all the great beaches, we will probably be back here.

Great beach for children and snorkeling
This beach is very protected by a miles long barrier reef. The water is extremely calm, almost like a pond or lake. Swimmers tell of lots of fish including turtles to be seen snorkeling. Also great for children.

    Long sandy picturesque beach
Gentle waves that are good for swimmers of all ages. Clear water that is perfect for snorkeling. Saw a lot of different kinds of tropical fish and my friend even got to swim with turtles. There are bathroom facilities and outdoor rinsing stations to wash off the ocean water. We liked Anini Beach so much the first time that we made a second visit to it during our Kauai stay in Lihue.

    Nice beach North Kauai
Beautiful beach on the north shore of Kauai for easy snorkeling we saw quite a few fish and 5 turtles. The water was pretty calm and visibility was around 30-35 feet. For March the water temperature was comfortable.

Delightful, safe beach with easy access
We spent the better part of a day at this lovely beach. Perfect for my 6 year old’s first snorkeling experience! We saw lots of fish and even a turtle. Nice shady areas as well, and parking just feet from the shore.

    Foil Surfers Welcome
If you are into foil surfing with a wind sail, this is the place to go on Kauai. It is a long, thin public beach. There is plenty of shade and public bathrooms. Getting to this beach requires a bit of back tracking from the main road and a long drive through a nice neighborhood. It has crystal clear water with a sandy bottom.

The floor was rocky, no fish in the ocean, and no Wi-Fi reception to contact people. It was also a very long drive from where we were staying.

One of the most beautiful beaches I’ve seen. Very shallow in areas, very calm. Not great for snorkeling but you still can.

Minutes from Princeville, easy access, parking , restrooms, large snorkeling area, Sandy Beach, shade trees, very nice place to hang for a while we snorkeled, and although the conditions weren’t great, saw some fish and big turtles. Good choice if you go on a short notice.

My favorite beach in Kauai! The sand and water are gorgeous, and it's quiet and secluded! Over the little inlet in Wyllies Beach which has some gorgeous trees to sit under away from the sun and/or rain. Also a quick walk from some of the Princeville resorts!

When we went, there was barely anyone there. We enjoyed the privacy and quiet! The water is beautiful and very calm. This was relaxing and we’d definitely go back.

This was a very beautiful beach and the waters were calm and inviting. There were a few kite boards out there and many families enjoying the beach. There was a pavilion and public restrooms nearby and also a boat ramp.
