Absolutely gorgeous views on this hike! Be aware that you do need a permit to go beyond the point after you reach the beach. My husband and I only hiked the first 2 miles in and then the same 2 miles back out. The views...More

A really hot hike on May 6 but the pool at the falls made it all worth it. Lots of up and down - most people only go to Hanakapi'ai beach but it is totally worth it to go to the base of the falls....More

Intermediate hiking to advanced with beautiful views. Please prepare in advance for slippery walkways if it has rained. Also follow the online safety instructions for the river crossings.

As short as 1 mile or as long as 11, it's a stunning and beautiful experience. Good for family (as long as you hold the hands of young children), even for my 83-year old spry father in law, the views get more and more stunning...More

We only went as far as Hanakapi'ai falls. Be prepared for an intense, slippery hike. No scrambling but slick rocks and mud. Several river crossings especially if you go up to the falls, where it gets buggy. HOWEVER, it's worth it. The coast is wonderful...More

Personally, I think it is best to wear some sort of hiking shoes with good grip because the rocks on the trail can get slick. That being said, I saw people wearing regular sneakers and even a few people in flip flops... More
