Stunning tropical paradise, and the drive is part of the beauty. The path is long and hilly, and I did not enjoy the golf cart maintenance crews driving past every few minutes. But the scenery is worth the hike.

This is a lush and stunning coastline that should not be missed. There are pathways and the botanical garden very close by. An achingly beautiful area which I would not want to miss.

The trail access is on the 4-mile scenic loop. The sign is hard to see. You’ll probably see cars on the side of the road. The walk is paved and easy. At the bottom of the hill turn right and walk the narrow trail to the water.

Not really a trail, but a paved walkway heading downhill to a little turnoff beside the Gardens. Parking can be tricky, but its free! Once down, beautiful bay and excellent view! Right side has a little trail that leads out to the lava rock, great spot for a picture! Tougher coming back up, but its short and paved.

Our main reason for visiting the island of Hawaii was to walk to easy to moderately difficult trails. We really did not have that much time so I was looking to cram a few short hikes into her last few hours on the island. It is easy to find the trail head but parking is a been a little challenging because it was a bit crowded. The first part of the hike takes you down at least 100 stairs and inclines, which is paved relatively easy. You continue to descend on what was wet brown and a bit slippery. Finally, we could enter the rocky shoreline and observe the bay and always beauty. The variety of plants and gigantic trees on the way down is inspiring. We crossed over the day and began to a sand along the part of the path called the donkey or donkey Kong bath. After walking up a couple hundred feet, it was not clear to us whether the path was intended to go to the left or the right, and fearing that we would get “lost“, we just decided to turn around and walk the way back up the original path. Total time was less than 90 minutes and we did spend quite a lot of time taking pictures and just taking in the beauty as well as talking to locals. The path was a bit wet and slippery in places but the paved areas to cities we are one has the greatest a sentence decent and parentheses made it difficult only in the physical energy required to march back up the hill. It was worthwhile.

This is a real easy hike down the trail to a secluded beach/rocky area. No way you're going to swim in it. Too rough. But a great spot to view an unspoiled coastal area. There's a sometimes blow hole out on the rocky point. Great photo spot. Pretty much had it to ourselves as well.

Short but amazing hike! Has a few out and back trails that lead down to beaches and into the forest. Off and on rain and humidity so be careful of the slippery rocks.

Quick hike down to the bay from the street. Little tricky to follow at times and can be slippery/muddy if it has been raining. Boots recommended. No services at trailhead.

A most beautiful lush walk down to a remote beach. Do not miss it!!! The drive on the road to get there is also like a Hawaiian wonderland.

The scenic drive on the Hamakua Coast is a MUST do drive. The road twist and snakes through a lush tropical rain forest lined with streams. Several stops allows for breathtaking views of the ocean coast.
