This was the first beach we went to on the Big Island and it ended up being the last one we visited before leaving as well because we loved it so much. It's out of the way so less crowded which is a huge draw. It has beautiful white sand, shade from trees, warm, clear water, sea turtles, and tide... More

Wonderful beach just 30 minutes from Kona. The road down to the beach is made of pot holes so make sure that your car can handle it. A SUV or Jeep is recommended. The beach itself if very beautiful, white sand and blue water. There are trees if you want to stay in the shade. Bring snorkeling gear because you... More

This is a beautiful beach, beautiful water, not very busy, great sand. There is shade and full sand. You can see planes coming in for landing. The drive to this beach is fun. It is across a lava field that has a few potholes. Once you make it down the road then you have a walk from the parking lot... More

The beach is pretty deserted. We were trying to get to Makalawana beach, but the road was closed so we decided to settle with this rather than hike our beach equipment further. We definitely enjoyed our day at the beach, as well as the turtles that kept swimming around us

Recently spent an afternoon at this beach after returning from Makalawana beach. We actually enjoyed this one much better! Plenty of shade, not crowded, beautiful water and scenery. Definitely worth the bumpy ride and short walk to get there. Check it out!

We were on a tight schedule driving the North loop around the Big Island from Kona. I do not remember where I first learned of this secluded beach, but I had marked it on the map (Entry road between Mile 89-90 Hwy 19). The road in was bumpy, but not impassable. Ground clearance should be your main concern. From the... More

Best to get there is with an SUV. The road is rough, but not many people are there. It was the best beach i have been on big island.

My wife and I went to check this one out during our honeymoon. We are very, and I do mean VERY mindful of the locals, so we don't piss anyone off. Anyways, we left the parking spot to check out the beach. We were out there for around 30 minutes or so, and then came back. When we got back,... More
