We hiked down the valley in 30 minutes and found it a bit tough on the knees, whereas going up was tough but the legs actually felt better. Going up took 45 minutes. We went on a day that was quite mild and not muggy,...More

The views here are beautiful. We watched a gal in a Mustang convertible attempt to drive down to the beach. People started shouting at her and made her turn around. There were also people not pulling over to allow the drivers going up the hill...More

One of my favorite hike in all islands... it is rough and tough hike... not so much the distance or height... the elevation and inclination is their killer... 2700 feet elevation and 20 degree inclination, sharing road with local and tour bus... although there are...More

We hiked down into the valley and had a magical experience. Saw wild horses on the beach...though they were the tamest wild horses I’ve ever seen. The pony wanted us both to pet him. The view of the valley from the overlook is spectacular, but...More

Waip’o Valley is just so stunning. Pictures don’t do it justice. Please consider driving down into the valley with a 4WD vehicle. We did (the locals told us how and it was so easy - 1st gear going down and 2nd gear going up) Yes,...More

As you drive in, you arrive at the lookout (beautiful views), which is high up above the valley & beach, about 2.5 mile from beach. Took a 4wheel drive Jeep down and back up. Can get pretty steep at times. Totally worth it though. Beautiful...More

Do not do the wagon tour. Bob the older gentleman who took us on the tour was late picking us up, wasn't very loud during the tour, seemed mean to the mules, and in general just seems he just needs to retire. The van had...More

A nice picturesque view from the top, but much more so down below at the lookout area. It's a bit steep both downhill and uphill with rails but worth it.

Start before 9am ideally. Took us 2hr30mn round trip including a stop at the beach, seeing wild horses, and getting pictures of the waterfall. If you walk fast and do not stop for long, less than 2hrs is doable for sure. 4... More

The horseback tour we took used a shuttle van to drive down to the barn. We then did our horseback ride - you do not dismount during the ride, but I will say my husband was complaining before we went and almost didn't go... More
