It's no longer standing unfortunately but it was a spot in Augusta that awed millions over the years and had a reputation that could put the fear of God in to the oldest local residents and superstitious visitors.

A traffic accident destroyed the Haunted Pillar in 2016 (both drivers were unhurt and apparently still living), so there's nothing more to see. There are no plans to rebuild or otherwise do anything with the structure.

Definitely check it out if you happen to walk by, but don't make a special trip out of it. For extra fun go at night.

The stories of how the Pillar is haunted are fun and vary depending on who you talk to. However, the real history is an important reminder of Augusta's past. The pillar is the only remaining piece of the Central Market which was located in the...More

Yes, there are many stories about superstitious happenings with this pillar, but I don't believe it!

According to Augusta area news sources, a car destroyed the pillar on 12-18-16. The pieces were scraped together and removed and the city may try to revonstruct it sometime. in the meantime, there's no pillar. But, as we saw... More
