Just like Indiana Jones. You can go inside the pyramids, get your own private guide. The most artistic Maya ruins of all

This site is bigger and better than most of the Maya sites. A must see. Be prepared to do some walking and climbing.

Copan has amazing detailed carving and hieroglyphs. We went early to avoid the crowds and had the entire site to ourselves. The value of a guide here cannot be underestimated as the marvel is in the meaning of the artifacts here. We hired an English speaking guide, Gladys, she was great and able to joke around with us. We only... More

Don't rush through Copan. We spent three weeks in the town and went out to the ruins four times, twice just to enjoy the nature walk through the property (no charge). We took a picnic out the day we did the ruins and the sepulturas so that we would have the whole day. And we planned a separate day just... More

We hired a guide and only took the basic tour because it was considerably cheaper, but found our guide to be very informative with a long personal history of involvement with the groups conducting excavations.

These really open your eyes to the Mayan civilisation. We had a fantastic guide whose knowledge was boundless, but edged with humour. It was good that after front loading he allowed about ten - fifteen minutes per area for self exploring and photos. It is also worth going a further 1400 metres down the road to the Sepulturas which is... More

Amazing history. Well maintained park. Very enlightening museum. I recommend a paid guide for better insight, but you can definitely do it on your own. You are serenaded by the local Macau on the way in. Well worth the journey from San Pedro Sula. Nice old cobblestone street town of Copan Ruinas is a short distance from the ruins. Very... More
