Our family just visited the museum today and were pleasantly surprised. Some of the interactive displays don't work and there are spelling mistakes in some of the descriptions, however the our kids didn't mind and were thoroughly entertained. Worth a visit with younger kids.

Museum is in part of castle-type structure on top of a hill, you can get a good look at Copan from here. In front of the building, there is a shrine to an image of the virgin Mary that is said to have appeared after some burning took place, interesting tidbit. Exhibits are interesting, and you'd do go to go... More

This building was quite unique, looked like a medieval castle from the outside, but did not have a moat. Had towers at each of the four corners and each had a ladder which allowed you to climb and get on top of each tower to look around and take pictures. The museum was closed when I was there so I... exibits are hands-on for kids, if you have kids they'll enjoy it. They had hand cranks - spin them, hear animal sounds. Very touchy-feely.

I had to stop by here and have a look at the children Maya Museum. I can highly recommend bringing your children here, specially if they are interested in the Maya World. It is a very nicely done, interactive Museum.

Most of the displays that were interactive were broken... We didn't expect much for a dollar but we received even less, much less! The information printed on the displays was useless and full of spelling errors and even if I would have been a school-aged child (which I am not), I would have been bored to death. How could anyone... More

It's located next to the Mayan ruins and cost $7.00 US to go in. It is huge inside with a ramp going up to the open area second floor with lots of exhibits to see. If you are a history buff go for it and of course the two ruins themselves are awesome. Worthwhile. Guy from Ottawa Canada

This is a children's museum, but it was a great way for me as a foreigner to learn more about the maya people before visiting the ruins. There were exhibits on the mayan alphabet, number and calendar system, clothing, daily life activities, food- everything that would give our visit to the ruins later more meaning. The exhibits were hands on,... More
