Impressive !!!

Must see in Ruins de Copan, very unique amongst the Mayan ruins through Central America and worth the trio from El Salvador or Guatemala if you don't intend to go to Honduras

This area of main park is amazing. It can be accessed separately but is better as part of the whole if you have the time.

The stairway is really impressive with all its stone carvings and they did an excellent job reconstructing it. There is a large figure in the middle that is missing, which was given to Harvard University many decades ago for their work here - I think they should return the sculpture, but nonetheless, it is still amazing. This is located on... More

I enjoyed the tour of the ruins, the guide seamed knowledgeable and well informed seeing that he had been a part of the work force that worked on the ruins. The Parrots were amazing and fun to watch, very interesting, Dirk

Absolutely worth a visit. Much more interesting than Chichinitza, I thought. Weird to have the tarp over it but understandable given the desire to preserve it as naturally as possible.

Don't visit the Copan ruins without a qualified guide, unless you have a degree in archaeology or antiquities. There is so much to see, and so many details to appreciate and learn about. The stairway is magnificent, now covered by a massive tarp to protect from sun and weather. Hopefully a more permanent and effective protective structure can be designed... More

This impressive stairway is currently (November 2016) under tarps and being renovated. You can still see it clearly, but it's a bit gloomy under the shroud. When you climb to the top from an adjacent pyramid, you can't see the stairs at all, so make sure you visit when at the bottom.

This stairway , comprising of thousands of carved stones had been reconstructed and is now a very impressive sight. Only a couple of gaps exist in what must be a 100 foot stairway.
