I was lucky enough to participate in the marine conservation internship at WSORC. The knowledge I learned, dives I experienced and incredible people that I worked with made it an amazing and worthwhile opportunity. If you're traveling to Utila, be sure to inquire about the Ocean Safari experience with WSORC- although you are never guaranteed to see a whale shark,... More

I was lucky enough to intern with WSORC for a month and had an absolute blast. The staff and interns at the center are very knowledgeable about whale sharks, obviously, but other marine life as well. There is also a focus on marine conservation and educational outreach. The Ocean Safaris provide breathtaking views of Utila and the opportunity to swim... More

Nice and enthousiastic people who want to spread all the information about the Whaleshark in their limited financial possibilities. We joined a very interesting Whaleshark lecture and a Whaleshark safari. Unfortunately we did not see a Whaleshark that time but saw many dolphins. Also there was a possibility for snorkling.

I spent a month volunteering at WSORC, doing a marine conservation internship and learning to scuba dive. I had such an incredible time with some really special people, so much so I'm heading back to the island again soon! A great learning experience which i would reccommend to anyone

I did a 1 month program as a Marine Conservation Intern for WSORC. It was an experience beyond all expectations. Konrad, Raf, Madelena and all of the research assistants and volunteers are top notch and have a profound love for the work that they do. They are fully ingrained in the local community educating the people of Utila as well... More

I did a 2 month internship at the WSORC and it was a great experience. As I went in an El-Nino year I didn't see a whaleshark. But it was still great and I saw everything else what I expected like nursesharks, eagle rays or dolphins.

I don't know what to say. It is a room with a couple of posters on the wall, nothing else. I realize it is operated by volunteers but there is so much else they could do to improve it.

Lucy and staff are superb and are worth supporting this outfit. They are working hard to provide up to date tracking and providing needed information and data on the whale sharks of Utila.
