Breathtaking. Postcard-like pics. Nature's paradise. I climbed two volcanoes in three days and spent most the evenings chatting and drinking with the locals at the plaza central. The views are amazing, this million year lake is surrounded by volcanos and the visuals are quite a...More

We took a trip to Panajachel to see the lake and the the beautiful scene with a volcano on each side. We walk around the town and took a ride around the lake. They had private boats that were about 100 dollars to cross the...More

Worth taking one of the boat trips on this lake, especially to one of the islands. You might see some birds along the way and when you land, you will be enchanted with the local market.

Inactive volcanoes, a lake surrounded by a variety of villages to wander and places to relax and unwind, what's not to like? Make sure you take the time to climb up to the top of at least one of the mountains around the lake, we...More

I had limited time, so I only visited Panajachel, but it was nice enough! Aside from the main street, it was a very quiet town. The lake is absolutely beautiful at sunset, so be sure not to miss it!

You must be dockside in Panajachel for sunrise and sunset for some of the best views. The docks make for an interesting foreground and the towering volcanoes make a stunning background. Time this lighting correctly and photographers are in for a treat.

Pana- big hub. Probably the most convenient place to stay in terms of driving to/from places. Santander st. is a complete zoo. Tourist traps and mobs of people. I recommend instead just going to the Nature Reserve (which is 20-30 min walk from Santander), then...More

We spent almost a week outside of Panajchel and found the lake area to be magical and so peaceful except for the weekends when the boats leave Panajachel with groups of people and over powering music booming from the boats. I cannot even understand how...More
