Clearly inspired in Paris' iconic "Avenue des Champs Elysées", "Avenida La Reforma" had its construction started in 1892 and was inaugurated in 1895. Today, it is one of Ciudad de Guatemala's most important throughfares, connecting its Northern and Southern areas. It is surrounded by fountains, sculptures, modern buildings and not far from the city's famous "Zona Viva" - where hotels, restaurants and nightclubs are mainly located. On Sunday mornings, "Avenida La Reforma" is partially closed to cars and becomes a paradise for bykers and pedestrians. Watch your belongings at all times and avoid walking alone in the evenings. Anyway, enjoy!

It is a wide avenue with trucks, some sculptures, gardens, shops, banks, museums etc.
It runs a considerable stretch of this avenue to move towards Cayala.

Enjoy Guatemala City because: LIFE...is a JOURNEY!

Avendia la Reforma is the main road in Guatemala city. There are a few high rise buildings (banks etc) and a few historical and government buildings on it. A few statues, a cycle and a walking path do not make it worthwhile for an evening stroll.

Very nice layout and walkable from many hotels Well maintained trees If you fly the 24 of December, do not miss fireworks from the plane all over Guatemala city and Antigua. Open your window and watch. Worth spending under 15 min to 1 hour walking around. Do not be intimidated by police presence in tourist areas. "Refaccciones" mean light meals.

Beautiful Trees and big street, path ways for pedestrians, and bicyclist to move about in the middle of this park in the Reforma Avenue. It is full of restaurants, hotels, business, and a place to sit and watch people and cars.

Avenida la Reforma is a main boulevard through Guatemala City, comparable to Miami’s Biscayne Boulevard. Tree-lined Avenida la Reforma is busy, difficult to cross. Many of the City’s attractions, however, are located along this scenic street, including Botanical Gardens. Our tour group stayed at Best Western Hotel Stofella, just off Avenida la Reforma. On our second night here, we walked to a local restaurant. Sidewalks along Avenida la Reforma are paved with highly polished “Guatemala Green” marble tiles—extremely slippery. The beautiful green marble can been seen adorning the walls behind podiums at the United Nations building in New York.

Families, runners, and walkers enjoy La Reforma on Sundays. The street is closed to traffic so that people can enjoy being outdoors walking. It's a lovely place to walk with a friend. Yes, it's just a street. But, the intention is about being able to safely walk around the city and relax.
