Came to Guatemala not expecting much. Everybody had told me how dangerous it was to walk around alone, especially after dark. I encountered the opposite. I walked everywhere, during the day and at night. Found many fun little pubs, stores, etc and not only did I not find it dangerous/intimidating, I quite enjoyed myself as everyone I bumped into was... More

Here is where Guatemalans live a business lunch and get you for a gourmet appetizer and drink. Lots if US franchise restaurants and fancy names cafes. Indeed beautiful area. Just few blocks away the banks, and offices and fancy looking traffic police which maintain a very strict order ir traffic and magnificent boulevards surrounded by trees

If you're looking for a nice place to have fun, you will find plenty of options here in Zona Viva... lots of restaurants, hotels, malls. I stayed at the Radisson hotel and did a bit of walking around... never felt unsafe, except when crossing streets because traffic and drivers are a bit on the hyper side.

While, my work takes me elsewhere around and beyond the city, Zona Viva is a nice place to operate from. It's safe, you can walk, and there is a nice mix of upscale restaurants (for those who might want) and comida tipica... More

This is the zone where the people dance and drink, but they have to improve more options. Nice for groups.
