So ChiChi ... it's certainly an experience to be had! However, I would suggest purchasing your handicrafts elsewhere as things here are a lot more expensive so barter hard if you do plan to purchase anything (whatever they start with start at less then half of what they ask) The food market section which is hidden in the middle of... A huge place for open air market, of course very touristic but a fun place to bargain buy presents for your friends or "enemies" as the local people like to say. An ideal place for lovers of colours, full of local people and tourists. I liked the vegetable part of the market and the food hall where you could eat

Chichicastenango is a wonderful, cultural experience. It's full of life, culture, color, sounds, and (of course) shopping. While markets with textiles and souvenirs can be found throughout the highland's towns and villages, Chichi is the largest of them all. For its size, however, we were impressed with how relatively calm it was on a late Thursday morning as well as... More

Our dates in Guatemala worked out perfectly for a Sunday visit to the market, we stayed 3 nights in Panajachel and on Sunday left for Antigua, stopping by the market for about 4 hours (more than enough time, including lunch). This market is huge and definitely a whole new experience, especially if you come from another continent (we come from... More

did a sunday day trip from antigua. took about 2.5 hrs, one-way to get to the market. the market is colorful and has plenty of stuff to buy. its gets crowded though so be careful with your belongings. i love the food choice as they are everywhere. try em all - you will not regret it. cheap and delicious.

Probably one of the best markets I have ever visited in the world. We stayed on the Wednesday night to get the maximum out of the Thursday market and then caught the 2pm shuttle out (by which time a lot had been packed up).

Heard of the Chichi market for three weeks prior to deciding to finally give it a look. The road into the city is crazy winding with a few very memorable outlook stop on the way up. Just be careful l where you decide what o pull over....the road is very busy. The road into the market suddenly dumps you pretty... More

Get rested up and drink some coffee prior to coming here. Consider eating some complex carbohydrates the night before. I am not kidding. I have been in huge markets in foreign countries before, but Holy Cow, this one is crowded, loud, exciting, and overwhelming. People everywhere, many relentless in trying to sell you something (you may have to say "no"... More
