The airport used to be named after Lindbergh, but was changed to honor Carter. In addition to the state is a historical marker explaining Lindbergh's brief visit to South Georgia. He already knew how to fly and journeyed to Americus to buy a plane. He...More

Who knew that Charles Lindbergh learned how to fly in little old Americus...monument out in the middle of nowhere but a great photo oop

Americus and Andersonville are full of historic sites, this being among them. For visitors who are interested in the history of flight it's a must.

It's a part of Georgia history! It's a monument that you should see. Bring the family. Just absorb the memory of life in this small town. Charles Lindbergh made history again by completing the first solo airplane flight across the Atlantic Ocean.

Just outside of town in a small general aviation airport that has private planes and working crop dusting planes. Yes they still dust crops with planes in GA. You won't be here long but it is cool to learn another bit of American history. The...More
