If you're an Indiana Jones lover or someone who would value a hollistic experience over just the site of a ruin, definitely visit Lamanai. The guided tour from Orange Walk (recommend to book through the very professional Hotel De La Fuente in Orange Walk Town)...More

You are free to explore here. The temples are amazing and the setting has to be seen to be believed. Kids absolutely loves it - and they're not generally keen on cultural visits.

Visited a lot of ruins in Belize, as I am passionate about history, but the most impressive site was Lamanai. I loved its location, in the heart of the Tropical forest, with lots of trail to take to reach from a temple to another and...More

I've visited a number of Mayan Ruins over the years, but Lamanai stands out. Only partially excavated, you do have to hike through jungle trails to get from one site to the next. With a basic, but excellent museum, even without a guide you'll come...More

Did this as part of the Lamanai Eco Tour. I would recommend that you get a guide and do a tour because only about 4% is excavated. It is very very impressive

Beautifully taken care of and kept very neat and clean. The jungle around the ruins is pretty much untouched which is a wonderful sight to see, the views from the top of the temples are breath-taking!

The ruins in the middle of the jungle are wonderful, but the best part of this archeaological site is the boat ride to get here! We took a boat from Orange Walk Town, and it was a spectacular journey. Spent a few hours at the...More

One more option in case you miss getting off at the New River bridge and end up in town: contact Hotel de la Fuente at +501-322-2290. Tours are typically 50-70 USD with lunch. They leave the Hotel around 9AM. Bring mosquito... More
