We asked our driver to take us to Cahal Pech as we'd read it was a small ruin and near to town. When we arrived we were the only people in the park which made it feel even more special. It is only a small site & really easy to wander around. We didn't get a guide but there were... More

Very easy to reach from town. Small visitor centre and was lovely and peaceful to wonder around and get an introduction to Mayan history before the larger sites

Not too far from the town centre of San Ignacio. Cahal Pech is great for a stroll , last part is up a steep unpaved hill so be warned , and to kill a few hours and at $10BSD per person entrance ( without a guide) it is not expensive. It certainly pales in size and significance to many other... More

Very interesting place to visit. We looked at the museum first to gather information. There are a lot of cool things to see and easy to get To from San Ignacio. This is not to be missed.

These ruins are just a mile north of town center in San Ignacio. The ruins are not as impressive as Tikal or Xunantunich, but great for being so close to the city. The museum is very informative about the Mayan culture, but a bit sparse. Great site for only $5 US.

This is a another site where you can see Mayan ruins and get additional insight into the culture of the ancient Mayan civilization. The sights and the education were enjoyable and it is definitely worth a visit if you are staying in town. That being said, Xunantunich is a much better site and not that far away. So, if you... It was a short walk from San Ignacio Resort hotel (less than one mile). The ruins were inexpensive as a self guided tour. They were beautiful and also didn't take long to navigate. It was only a short walk to get to them once at the location.

While it's close to town, I'd advise treat yourself to a taxi ride up and walk back. We didn't take the guided tour that was offered, we just walked around ourselves. Maybe all the questions we had may have been answered had we taken the guide. Very interesting and great views from the top. Not for the person with bad... More
