You don't need to take a tour to go there, just head into the San Ignacio Resort Hotel and join in. We were there with 4 other people, one of whom was a little girl. We went into a small enclosure where the iguana were roaming freely. The guide brought out some plants that we were to feed to the... More

While staying in San Ignacio we decided to take a walk up the hill to visit the bar in the San Ignacio Resort Hotel. While walking through the lobby to the restaurant and bar we came across literature about the Green Iguana Conservation Project located on the hotel grounds. So while enjoying a couple of adult icy cold beverages we... More

you can easily walk to San Ignacio hotel when in town, its only about a mile, i did it with my 7 years old. We both loved visiting the Project, you learn about iguanas, get to meet some special ones and also pet the little ones. A piece of wood on the floor entrance was in bad condition when i... More

This was a really fun stop - we got to feed the iguanas, learn a few things about them, and wear them like jewelry.

This is an ongoing conservation of the iguanas, who will climb all over visitors but do not become domesticated -- they are released back into the jungle.

Its at the San Ignacio hotel. It does cost $18 BZD, but fully goes to the project. So many injured or abandoned Iguanas are kept here until they are ready to be released back to the wild. This is not an Iguana zoo. But really great work. You can pet, hold, and feed the Iguanas. Don't forget Oscar, the Alpha... More

The Iguana Conservation Project is part of the San Ignacio Hotel. You check in at the front desk, take a short walk to the conservatory (maybe eat a few termites along the way), and then spend the next hour learning all about green iguanas. They focus on education and care, trying to increase the iguana population in Belize. We met... More

Had family staying at the resort. We joined a small last minute group to do the iguana tour. There were tons of them in there and they'd just grab a small to medium iguana and put it on your shoulder! We had a bunch of fun! They even brought out baby lizards!! Not bad for the price!

Worth the visit just to see, feed and hold the iguanas. The cost of admission goes to the conservation project, so it's money well-spent.

Stayed at the San Ignacio Resort hotel which hosts the project, which we visited the afternoon after we checked in. Shocking to hear how endangered the iguanas are in such a lush 'jungly' country as Belize. Actually saw the largest of the male iguanas on the property of the hotel not in the project itself. Have attached the pic.
