We managed to invent our own hike which was incredibly scenic and fun. It is ca 13km and can be done if water in the river is not high. You start and Blancaneaux lodge (leave your car there) and you walk their (well sign posted) trail up to Big Rocks waterfall. The falls are fine (especially if you are there... More

It has been 3 years since we last saw Mountain Pine. The new trees are growing nicely in the area that was burnt by the forest fire. A few burnt stumps that are still visible are getting covered in new growth and in a few years probably won't even be visible. This reserve has so much to offer, whether it... More

So many things to do and see here. We went for a few little hikes and the waterfalls and pools were amazing and totally refreshing. Went to Rio on Pools and Big Rock falls. Beautiful scenery, quiet, and only saw two other groups. The hikes were easy and the falls and pools fabulous.

A really nice area with Rio On Pools and Rio Frio caves as the highlights as well as many high end lodges. Really lousy road though. With as much tourist traffic as this area receives couldn't they take a grader to it twice a year ?

Mario was an awesome guide! We learned so much about the culture and country from him. The hike through the cave and up to the multiple waterfalls was absolutely breathtaking!

Take time to drive through the Mountain Pine Ridge Park. The scenic views will take your breath away! Make time to stop a Big Rock Falls...go ahead, jump in...the water's great! Take a glance at Thousand Foot Falls. Wander the nature trails. BUT head the warnings about the road conditions! These roads are BUMPY and easily flood during the rainy... More

Went with a group of colleagues and had a great Bar-B-Q at Rio On pools before enjoying another swim at Big Rock falls. Strongly rec'd for those who enjoy being outdoors and just taking in the scenery.

Just drive on the road and you will know what I mean. There are so many wonderful places to see in the Mountain Pine Ridge Reserve - but the sleeping locations are expensive but it balances out when you enjoy the waterfalls for free. It was worth the bumpy drive but we made certain we had good tires and a... More

True to its name, this is a forest of pine trees you can drive through South of Georgeville. There are a few resorts and old military camps in the area, however there is also the Caracol Ruins at the southern point, pools, waterfalls, and caves which are all free to visit if you drive yourself. If you can get a... More

The forest was nice. They haven't harvested it which is great to see that it is a nice forest. Guatemala has harvested many of their forests and you can tell because the mountain is all bare.
