Very much a tourist trap. The bars were great, but the jewelry stores were overly pushy.

The prices were higher than you can find deeper into the country and the people working in the jewelry stores were swarming you the moment you hesitate at their door! The bars... read more

The prices were higher than you can find deeper into the country and the people working in the jewelry stores were swarming you the moment you hesitate at their door! The bars were good and the people there were fun and inviting. Not an accurate representation of the regular citizen of Belize.

Although the country is trying to plant its tourism roots this area has tremendous signs of growth. The restaurants, shops and bars are in full bloom and tourists are swarming around them like bees! Once you leave the port area the scenery drastically changes so expect to see some flooding & poverty. The Belizians work hard for a living &... More

I have been wanting to go to Belize for quite some time. I have watched episodes of House Hunters International and Belize always looked nice but I was somewhat disappointed. I am not into water sports, hiking etc. I like sitting on the beach and watching the ocean with a nice cold beer in hand! The Belize Village was ok,... More

... unless you come in on a cruise ship, then you are pretty much forced to at least pass through. Lots of tacky souvenir shops, most of the stuff not made in Belize. Beware of being ripped off; a lot of the shops do not have any prices and they charge what they think you will pay. You can haggle... More

Most go when visiting Belize City, is a very well mantained Village with many restaurants, live music and lots of shopping. Many cruise ships arrive every year. There is wifi all over and a very nice Belize sign and a fish pond.

We visited Belize on a recent cruise. While there, we took an excursion to snorkel the reef and swim with sharks and stingrays. The whole family LOVED our excursion. Once that was finished, we returned to the port village to do a little shopping. This is were things went south. While we were shopping, somehow, my 15 year old daughter... More

This was 1 of stops while on our cruise. We had to be tendered in but that was fine. Once there, there are lots of shops, bars and eating places! We did do a tour while in the area with Belize Caribbean Tours; went and saw Monkeys (Bamboos). It was really a neat and memorable experience! The items at the... More

There were all types of different shops all in one convenient place. Clothing stores, jewelry stores, souvenir stores, eateries, and bars all together. Everything a tourist needs in one place
