You have to take this very small hand-cranked ferry to get there. It is government run and free with no need to tip. The ruins are less than five minutes away by car. There are two large plazas. The most significant structure, which we you...More

If you don't have a lot of time and aren't inclined to drive the long and rough road to Carocol this is a great option. We were here about 2 hours in total and toured without a guide. It was fine. It surprised us as...More

This is a very impressive site. There are excavated and slightly restored temples there as well as excavations still underway. The two hour + bus ride from Belize City to the site gives your tour guide time to explain the history of British Honduras and...More

Quite large site within easy reach of San Ignacio, Bus service from town, then a little ferry across the river, short uphill walk to site in not in a car. Guide explained lots about the Mayan, more involved than I thought!
