This is a national park of Belize and in addition to tour guide fees, a park entry fee is required. Although on open water, a ranger in a boat patrols the area to collect the fee. Being near the reef the snorkeling is outstanding! Life...More

Visited Hol Chan with Belize Pro Dive Center. Nice shallow dive with a ton of marine life and coral, then the snorkel trip. Lots of nurse sharks and rays. Weather was great and it was a fun excursion.

We booked through Athen's Gate and our guides were awesome--Sherri took us on a guided snorkel and pointed out many different sea creatures (including two LARGE moray eels that came out from their rocks). We saw a nurse shark, a barracuda, a couple of rays,...More

We are by no means pro snorkelers, but we have been out several times in a few countries and this place takes the cake!! We had great guides, and that certainly helped, but even without, this area is abundant with marine life and coral. Stunning...More

I'm planning of going to Belize this August. I would like to know the best snorkeling and dive sites if you may. I plan to spend most of the time in Ambergris Cay. Is this a good spot? My friend went to Palencia (?) and he was not happy with the dive. Which resort can you recommend and which dive tour did you go or can recommend? Thanks.

You will love snorkeling here. Look for any excursion with Lil Alfonse. I have a review on him. We stayed at the Xanadu Island Resort, which was wonderful. If you don't stay there, call them as they will know how to set... More
I get very seasick on a boat OR snorkeling/floating for too long; are there patch reefs where you can stand on the sand now and then? Do you have to cross open water for long on the boat to get to the snorkeling sites?

The boat rides to Hol Chan are inside the reef so the waves aren't bad at all. I take bonine for all boat rides but on this one it's usually about 5-6 minutes on the open water and not very bad. Nothing to stand on once... More
